(Digital) German as a Foreign Language Competence Network in Sub-Saharan Africa

The DAAD is launching a new funding programme to support the establishment of a regionally adapted German as a Foreign Language (DaF) competence network in Sub-Saharan Africa. The aim is to create a sustainable structure for qualification and exchange between two German and three African partner universities – one each in East, West, and Southern Africa. The programme is designed to strengthen academic teaching, research, and intercultural dialogue in the field of DaF through innovative and digital approaches.

Funding is available for the development, programming, and maintenance of a digital teaching/learning and communication platform, training events in digital or hybrid formats, the (further) development of digitally supported DaF curricula, and internships for both German and African students at the respective partner institutions. A special focus is placed on capacity building and the targeted development of teaching competencies in higher education.
